Mankas Grill

welcome to our corner of history!

About us

Brothers, Kyle and Jason Barraza, are proud to introduce you to Mankas Grill, located at the historic Mankas Corner in Suisun Valley, CA.

In the late 19th century this portion of the corner was owned by John Barton. The corner was in a prime location; it was the intersection between the Benicia-to-Suisun City Stagecoach route and the main road running between Suisun City and Berryessa Valley. A Virginian turned gold rush seeker, Christly Manka, saw the opportunity that the corner possessed. Based on his hunch, Manka bought an interest in the site from Barton in 1855. History tells us that Manka had called it right, because of its prominent location, the corner became a thriving crossroads for Barton and Manka's business.

In 1859 Manka bought out Barton's stake in the business, cementing the name as Mankas Corner. Over the last 160 years. Mankas Corner has been utilized by the community and has become the well-known gathering spot that we know it as today. In June of 2020, Kyle Barraza, Jason Barraza transformed one of Mankas Corner's locations into Mankas Grill. Today, Mankas Grill offers new and sensational twists on culinary staples that we are excited to share with the community.

We are so happy to invite you to dine with us at Mankas Grill. You are now hanging out where locals have come together for more than a century and a half. While you are here, be sure to ask Kyle or Jason about what is on tap or on the grill. Take a moment to listen close to see if you can hear the generations of laughter, love, and community that have filled this corner for generations. We couldn't be more excited to welcome you to our corner of history. See you at Mankas Corner!
